MADE FOR YOUR TEACHING DAY

Privacy notice for Teacher’s Friend

Operated by XQRA. Updated 3 October 2026.

Who operates Teacher’s Friend

XQRA operates Teacher’s Friend. Contact support@teachersfriend.app with privacy questions, requests about your account or a concern about information in the service.

Information you provide

Account information includes your email address, sign-in information and profile details you choose to enter, such as your name, school, curriculum country and teaching preferences. Your workspace can contain lesson and exam drafts, generated documents, Co-teacher conversations, schemes, timetables and practice progress.

If you use Classroom tools, you may add learner names and references, assessment settings, marks, reviewed answers and score corrections. Paper photos and documents you upload may contain additional information visible on the page. Provide only information you are authorised to use for teaching; crop or remove unnecessary personal details before uploading.

Why information is processed

We use this information to sign you in, show your teaching workspace, save and reopen supported records, prepare requested teaching content, recognise uploaded documents, calculate reviewed classroom results, and respond to support requests. The service also uses request identifiers, status and error information to recover interrupted work, diagnose faults and protect access.

Generated content and document recognition

Teacher’s Friend uses Google Gemini, a third-party AI service, for requested generation, Co-teacher chat and recognition. Content is sent to Gemini only when you choose an AI action, such as generating a document, sending a Co-teacher message or choosing Read timetable. Nothing is sent while you only browse, edit or use non-AI tools. For generation and chat, we send the prompt, relevant conversation context, selected curriculum content and teaching details needed for your request. For recognition, we send the photo, document, text or voice recording you select. These may include personal information you entered or that appears in an upload, including names, learner work or your voice. A recording can include your voice and any names or classroom details you say. A voice recording is sent only after you choose Read timetable.

Before a first AI request of each type, we ask you to allow sharing with Google Gemini. You can choose Allow and continue or Do not share. Declining leaves your draft unchanged and does not send the request. Your permission is saved for that type of use. Open Profile → Help & feedback → AI sharing permission to review or withdraw a previously granted AI permission. Withdrawal stops future requests of that type; it cannot recall content already sent.

Service providers and storage

Teacher’s Friend uses Supabase for authentication and supported account records and private paper-image storage, Google Gemini for requested generation, chat and recognition, and Vercel for the hosted website and server functions. Network requests also convey technical information, such as an IP address, to the services receiving them. If you choose Google sign-in where offered, Google participates in that sign-in. Sign-in, verification and password emails are sent through Resend, an email delivery service.

Information submitted to these services is processed using their infrastructure. This notice does not promise that processing stays within your country, or that all provider logs and backups are erased immediately when an item disappears from the app.

Coins and payments

Coins are bought inside the iPhone or Android app through the App Store or Google Play, or on teachersfriend.app in Ghana through a licensed card and mobile-money payment processor. Apple, Google or the payment processor handles your payment details; Teacher’s Friend does not receive or store your full card number.

We receive a confirmation of each purchase (an order reference, the coin package, the amount, currency and status) so the right coins are added to your account once. App Store and Google Play confirmations reach us through RevenueCat, a purchase-verification service. Coins you spend, for example on a lesson note or a licensure study module, are recorded in your coin history.

Device permissions

Teacher’s Friend asks for notification permission at your first signed-in startup. Other permissions are requested only when you use the feature that needs them. You can change these permissions at any time in your phone’s settings.

  • Camera: to photograph answer sheets, student papers, schemes of learning or timetables that you choose to import.
  • Photos: to choose a profile photo or an image to import.
  • Microphone: to record your timetable when you choose voice input.
  • Notifications: to deliver class and timetable reminders and service updates, including when the app is closed. A device push token is stored to route updates to your device through Expo; timetable reminders are scheduled on your device. Permission is optional: declining keeps the app and in-app messages available. You can change notification permission in your phone’s settings.

Advertising and tracking

Teacher’s Friend shows no advertising. We do not sell personal information, do not use it for advertising, and do not track you across other companies’ apps or websites.

Children

Teacher’s Friend is designed for teachers and education staff aged 18 or over and is not directed to children. Teachers may add learner names, marks or paper photos only when they are authorised to use them for teaching; that information stays in the teacher’s private workspace. If you believe a child has created an account, contact support@teachersfriend.app and we will remove it.

How information is protected

Information travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Account records use access controls so each account reaches only its own data, and purchases and paid study content are checked on our servers. Support staff access is limited to what is needed to help you. No system is perfectly secure, so keep your password private and contact support if you notice anything unusual.

Private work and community posts

Account workspaces and stored paper photos use account-based access controls. Community posts and replies are different: the content and display name you submit are shown to other signed-in community users, subject to the community’s visibility and moderation controls. If you add a profile photo, it is shown beside your posts too; remove it in Profile and it disappears the next time you post. Reports and moderation details are available to assigned reviewers. Keep private classroom records out of shared discussions.

Device copies and exported files

The app uses device or browser storage for sign-in state, preferences and supported offline copies. Account-separated copies can remain on a device after you leave a screen or sign out. Protect shared devices and use the app’s account controls.

Clearing app or browser storage, or uninstalling the app, can remove local data and unsynchronised work. It does not itself delete your cloud account. Exported files, screenshots and copies shared with other people are separate from the account; a cloud deletion request cannot remove files from those devices or recipients.

Retention and removal

Saved account records and recovery information may remain until removed through available controls or addressed through support. Removing an original paper photo keeps its reviewed answers, score and correction evidence. Removing a visible item is not a promise that all revision history or service backups have been erased.

Automatic 90-day expiry of saved material backups is not enabled. Do not rely on an automatic expiry date to remove information. Export important work and check its backup status before clearing local storage.

Requests about your information

Email support@teachersfriend.app to request access to or correction of information, or to request deletion of an account or its records. Use your account email where possible and identify the records or concern. We may need to verify that the request comes from the account owner before discussing or changing private information. Never send passwords or sign-in codes.

For self-service deletion, sign in, open Profile → Account & sign-in → Delete account, review what will be removed, and type DELETE to confirm. Keep the deletion receipt until completion. If you cannot access the account or the app reports that deletion is temporarily unavailable, email support for a verified manual request. Local copies on other devices and exported or shared files need separate attention.

Changes and help

We will update this page when the described processing changes. The date above identifies this notice. For sign-in, generation or saved-document troubleshooting, see Help and support.
